Captured Celebrations: Two Global Nominations at 2026 Awards

When I launched Captured Celebrations in June 2023, I was a single operator with no team, no investors, and no industry connections. Two and a half years later, the company has been shortlisted in two categories at the 2026 Booth Mastermind Awards — competing against over 500 entries from photo booth companies around the world.
The nominations are for Best Newcomer (1–2 Years in Business), sponsored by Curator Live, and Best Corporate Event (Up to 2 Years in Business), sponsored by JYS Props. Being selected as a finalist in either category would have been meaningful. Both at once feels surreal.
What Are the Booth Mastermind Awards?
The Booth Mastermind Awards (BMAs) are the premier global competition for the professional photo booth industry. Entries are evaluated by an independent panel of judges assessing professionalism, creativity, guest experience, business growth, and measurable results. The 2026 competition received over 500 entries from companies spanning multiple countries.
The Best Newcomer Nomination
The Best Newcomer category recognizes operators who've built something sustainable from the ground up — with creativity, drive, and genuine commitment to their clients.
My story starts with my daughter Rio's quinceañera. Planning that celebration, I noticed a gap in the market: no photo booth providers combined professional quality with bilingual service and real cultural understanding of Latino celebrations. That gap became Captured Celebrations.
The nomination centered on our WSS trading card activation — a campaign that began because I was a WSS customer and ended with a professional partnership. The experience let attendees create personalized collectible photo trading cards, blending entertainment, brand engagement, and cultural connection in a way that resonated deeply with the audience.
That story — from customer to trusted creative partner — captures how Captured Celebrations operates at every level.
The Best Corporate Event Nomination
The Best Corporate Event category honors operators who deliver activations with measurable outcomes, not just entertainment.

Our nomination was anchored by a Dia de los Muertos community activation that integrated real-time survey data collection alongside the photo experience. Guests created culturally meaningful keepsakes while simultaneously providing engagement data that supported our partner organization's grant funding applications.
This approach — combining entertainment with quantifiable business intelligence — reflects how we approach corporate work. We design activations that serve a strategic purpose: collecting leads, reinforcing brand messaging, measuring audience sentiment, or documenting community engagement.
Our corporate portfolio has grown to include partnerships with organizations like the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation and brand activations for companies including WWE2K. The Hilton Foundation activation used our AI photo booth and generated a return of over $1,300 per hour of booth time.

The Journey from Single Operator to Global Finalist
Building a photo booth company from scratch in Los Angeles is not a simple undertaking. The market is saturated with operators at every price point, and the barriers to entry are low — anyone with a camera and a backdrop can call themselves a photo booth company. What separates lasting businesses from fly-by-night operators is the quality of the experience, the consistency of the delivery, and the depth of the client relationships.
When I started, I did everything myself: consultations, design, setup, operation, breakdown, editing, delivery, and follow-up. I loaded equipment into my car at 5 AM, drove across LA County, set up alone, ran the booth for four or five hours, broke everything down, drove home, and started editing the gallery. The next morning, I would answer inquiry emails and start the process again.
That hands-on experience gave me something invaluable: an intimate understanding of every detail that makes or breaks an event. I know what happens when a printer jams mid-reception. I know how to reroute power when a venue's outlets are in the wrong place. I know how to manage a line of 200 guests during a corporate event without anyone feeling rushed. I know how to calm a nervous bride who is worried the booth setup won't match her vision.
Those lessons are embedded in how Captured Celebrations operates today — even as the team has grown.
Building the Team
One of the most significant milestones was bringing on attendants who shared the company's values: warmth, professionalism, bilingual fluency, and genuine care for every guest. Our attendants are not just booth operators — they are the face of the experience. They greet guests, manage props, troubleshoot in real time, and set the tone for how the booth feels.
Training attendants to deliver the Captured Celebrations experience consistently across different event types — weddings, quinceañeras, corporate activations, community festivals — required developing systems and standards that didn't exist when I was the only operator. That operational maturity is part of what the Booth Mastermind judges evaluated.

What the Nominations Mean for Our Clients
Awards matter to clients because they signal a standard of quality. When you book a photo booth company that has been recognized on a global stage, you are not just getting equipment — you are getting a team that has been independently evaluated against hundreds of competitors and found to be among the best.
For wedding clients, the nominations confirm that the vendor they are trusting with a once-in-a-lifetime celebration has been judged by industry professionals as delivering at the highest level. For corporate clients, it confirms that the vendor managing their brand's image at a public event meets global professional standards.
But beyond the external validation, the nominations reflect something more personal: they confirm that the approach we have taken from day one — quality over volume, relationships over transactions, cultural authenticity over generic service — is recognized as meaningful by the industry itself.
The WSS Trading Card Activation: A Closer Look
The WSS trading card activation deserves a deeper look because it exemplifies how Captured Celebrations approaches brand partnerships.
WSS (Warehouse Shoe Sale) is a beloved retail brand in Latino communities across Southern California. The activation was designed for a community event where WSS wanted to create an experience that felt culturally connected — not just branded.
We created a custom trading card template that let attendees step into the booth, take a portrait, and receive a printed collectible card featuring their photo in a professional sports card format. The cards included WSS branding, the event name, and a personalized touch that made each card feel like a genuine collectible.
The result went beyond entertainment. Attendees kept their cards. They showed them to friends. They posted them on social media. The activation generated organic brand impressions while creating genuine joy — which is the entire point of experiential marketing done well.
This is the kind of work that earned the Best Newcomer nomination: creative activations that serve the brand's goals while respecting the audience's culture and intelligence.

The Dia de los Muertos Activation: Measurable Impact
The Dia de los Muertos community activation was the centerpiece of our Best Corporate Event submission. Here is why it stood out.
The partner organization needed two things: a community engagement experience that honored the cultural significance of Dia de los Muertos, and quantifiable data demonstrating community participation for grant funding applications.
We designed an activation that accomplished both simultaneously. Guests approached the booth, where they were greeted by a bilingual attendant who guided them through the experience. They selected from culturally meaningful props — sugar skull masks, marigold crowns, and traditional accessories — and took their photos against a custom backdrop featuring traditional Dia de los Muertos imagery.
During the digital delivery process, guests completed a brief survey — seamlessly integrated into the photo delivery workflow. They provided feedback on community programming, expressed interest in future events, and shared demographic information that the organization needed for their grant applications.
The data collection was not an interruption — it was woven into the experience. Guests were engaged, enjoying themselves, and willing to share because the interaction felt respectful and purposeful.
The result: hundreds of survey responses, a complete photo gallery documenting community engagement, and data that directly supported successful grant applications. The organization's leadership credited the activation as one of the most effective community engagement tools they had ever deployed.

Our Awards Journey
| Year | Recognition |
|---|---|
| 2024 | Best Single Operator — Booth Mastermind Awards |
| 2025 | Best Wedding Photo Booth — Booth Mastermind Awards |
| 2025 | Featured in LA Times Latino Wedding Vendor Guide |
| 2026 | Shortlisted: Best Newcomer + Best Corporate Event — Booth Mastermind Awards |
Every milestone on this list was built on individual events — showing up, delivering an exceptional experience, and earning trust one celebration at a time.
What Winning Best Single Operator Taught Me
The 2024 Best Single Operator award was the first major validation that Captured Celebrations was building something real. At that point, I was still running most events myself. The award recognized the quality of work a single person could produce — but it also highlighted the limitations of operating alone.
You cannot scale excellence without systems. You cannot serve more clients without training others to deliver at your standard. The Single Operator award was both a celebration of what I had built and a signal that it was time to grow.
That growth — hiring attendants, developing training protocols, expanding the booth inventory, and building relationships with venues across Los Angeles — is what made the 2025 and 2026 nominations possible.
The LA Times Feature
Being included in the LA Times Latino Wedding Vendor Guide was meaningful for a different reason. That feature was not about industry recognition — it was about cultural visibility. It said: there is a Latina-owned photo booth company in Los Angeles that serves the community with professionalism, cultural understanding, and world-class quality. For couples planning weddings who wanted a vendor who understood their celebration — not just photographed it — that visibility mattered.

The Photo Booth Industry in Los Angeles
Los Angeles is one of the most competitive photo booth markets in the world. The city's event culture — weddings, corporate galas, brand activations, celebrity parties, award shows, community festivals — creates enormous demand, and hundreds of operators compete for that business.
What distinguishes the top operators from the rest is not equipment. Most professional booths use similar cameras and printers. The differentiators are:
- Design quality — the custom templates, backdrops, and branded overlays that make each event unique
- Guest experience — how the attendant interacts with guests, manages flow, and creates energy
- Reliability — showing up on time, every time, with backup equipment ready
- Cultural competence — understanding the nuances of different celebration types and serving each one authentically
- Business intelligence — for corporate clients, delivering data, analytics, and measurable ROI alongside entertainment
Captured Celebrations competes — and wins — on all five dimensions. The Booth Mastermind nominations are external confirmation of that.
Looking Ahead
The nominations are meaningful, but they are not the destination. Every event we serve in 2026 and beyond will be measured by the same standard we have always held: did we deliver an experience that exceeded expectations? Did guests leave with something they will cherish? Did the client feel that their investment returned more value than they anticipated?
Whether we win the Booth Mastermind Awards or not, the work continues. Every wedding reception where guests are laughing at the booth, every corporate activation that generates measurable results, every quinceañera where the birthday girl's face lights up when she sees her photo — that is the real award.
