Goals

The YMCA of the Foothills wanted a holiday party activity that accomplished three things: bring the team together in a fun, lighthearted way, be genuinely inclusive for staff of all ages and backgrounds (including kids and families), and produce branded photos that could be shared on the YMCA’s social media channels.

The event was held at the YMCA facility in La Cañada — a community-oriented space where the photo booth needed to feel warm and accessible, not flashy or intimidating. The audience ranged from administrative staff to fitness instructors to retiree volunteers, plus their children and partners. The photo booth had to work for all of them.

Setup

Custom Holiday Template with YMCA Branding

The print template featured a festive holiday design with the YMCA of the Foothills logo prominently placed. Every print was holiday-themed and YMCA-branded — creating a keepsake that staff were proud to take home and display.

Full Holiday Prop Kit

Santa hats, reindeer antlers, elf ears, ugly sweater signs, candy cane props, and holiday message boards. The prop selection was curated for maximum fun across all ages — toddlers loved the oversized Santa hats, teenagers gravitated to the ugly sweater signs, and the adults embraced the full holiday spirit with reindeer antlers and candy canes.

Bilingual Attendant

Our bilingual attendant ensured that every guest felt comfortable and included. The YMCA of the Foothills serves a diverse community, and having an attendant who could guide families in both English and Spanish made the experience accessible for everyone — especially the abuelas who came along to see their grandkids in Santa hats.

Results

120 staff members and their families attended the holiday party, and the photo booth was the most popular activity of the evening. 280+ photos were captured throughout the event — a mix of individual portraits, family groups, department team shots, and plenty of prop-filled holiday silliness.

The prints became instant keepsakes. Staff members were tucking their prints into purses and coat pockets as they left, and several mentioned that the photos would be going straight onto the fridge at home. For a holiday party, that is the ultimate success metric — a print that makes it to the fridge means the experience mattered.

The post-event gallery was shared on the YMCA of the Foothills social media channels, providing branded content that showcased the organization’s community spirit and team culture. The photos were warm, genuine, and clearly from a team that enjoys working together — exactly the kind of content that resonates with the communities the YMCA serves.

For the YMCA, the photo booth delivered more than entertainment. It created a shared experience that brought together staff from different departments, ages, and backgrounds. The holiday props were the icebreaker. The prints were the memory. And the gallery was the proof that this team knows how to celebrate together.

“The photo booth was the best part of our holiday party. Every single person participated — from the toddlers to our senior volunteers. The bilingual attendant was wonderful with everyone, and the prints were adorable.”
— YMCA of the Foothills, Event Coordinator

Why Holiday Parties Need a Photo Booth

Holiday parties are the one time of year when an entire organization comes together outside of work. The photo booth serves as the social glue — it gives people a reason to interact with colleagues from other departments, include their families, and create a memory that outlasts the party itself.

The YMCA holiday party demonstrated that a photo booth does not need to be elaborate to be effective. An Open Air Booth with great props, a branded template, and a warm attendant created an experience that every single person at the party enjoyed. No AI, no trading cards, no step-and-repeat — just good energy, fun props, and a print to take home.

For organizations planning a holiday party in La Cañada, the Foothills area, or anywhere in Los Angeles, this is what a community-focused photo booth experience looks like. Inclusive, fun, and full of memories.
