LA Wedding Vendor Booking Timeline

When to book every vendor for your Los Angeles wedding — with peak season notes specific to LA County.

From Captured Celebrations — a Latino-owned photo booth company based in La Crescenta, CA. We’ve coordinated with hundreds of LA wedding vendors.

A Note About Los Angeles Timing

LA has one of the most competitive wedding vendor markets in the country. Peak season is May through October, with June and October being the most popular months. Saturday evenings in these months book out 12–18 months in advance for top venues and photographers. Use this timeline as a minimum — booking earlier is always better.

Venue

Critical12–18 months

Top LA venues (Calamigos Ranch, Vibiana, Taglyan, The Langham) book 18+ months out for peak dates. Start here first — every other vendor works around your venue date.

Photographer

Critical12 months

The best LA wedding photographers book a year out. Your photos are permanent — don't cut corners on timing here. Book before the DJ and florist.

Videographer

High10–12 months

Often booked as a package with photographers. If booking separately, aim for 10 months minimum for peak season dates.

Caterer / Venue F&B

High10–12 months

If your venue doesn't include catering, top LA caterers for 100+ guests book 10–12 months out. Includes tastings, menu customization, and staffing.

DJ or Band

High9–12 months

For popular DJs and live bands in LA, 10–12 months is safer. A good DJ makes or breaks your reception — don't settle for whoever is available last minute.

Photo Booth

High6–9 months

For Saturday evenings in peak season (May–Oct), book 6–9 months out. The best bilingual photo booth companies in LA — the ones with real attendants and custom templates — fill early. Book before florist and cake.

LA florists with strong Instagram portfolios book 6–9 months out. Book after securing your venue and photographer.

Hair & Makeup

Medium6–9 months

Book your lead stylist at 6–9 months, then add assistants for the bridal party at 3–4 months. Peak season Saturdays fill fast.

Wedding Planner / Coordinator

Medium12 months (full planning) / 3 months (day-of)

Full-service planners should be booked early — they help secure all other vendors. Day-of coordinators can typically be booked at 3–6 months.

Cake Designer

Medium4–6 months

Custom wedding cakes in LA require 4–6 months. Popular bakers with long waitlists book even earlier. Schedule a tasting at 4–5 months.

Invitations

Medium4–5 months (order) / 2 months (mail)

Custom stationery takes 4–6 weeks to print. Order at 4–5 months, mail 6–8 weeks before the wedding. Allow time for addressing and RSVP tracking.

Officiant

Medium6–9 months

If you have a preferred officiant (family friend, religious leader, or professional), confirm availability early. Good officiants also book out.

Transportation

Low3–4 months

Limo, party bus, or shuttle for the bridal party. For out-of-town guests, reserve a hotel room block at 6 months.
