A wedding reception photo booth works best when it is planned into the reception timeline, not just parked in a corner: open it during cocktail hour or open dancing, pause it with idle hours ($75/hr) during dinner and toasts, and place it near the bar or dance floor. Captured Celebrations plans all of that with you — reception favorites start at $795 for 3 hours with prints. For the full wedding overview, start at our wedding photo booth page.

Wedding Reception Photo Booth, Planned Into Your Timeline

A photo booth at a reception lives or dies on two decisions: when it opens and where it sits. Get both right and there is a line at the booth all night. Get them wrong and it collects dust by the exit while everyone dances. We have run the booth at hundreds of receptions, and we plan those two decisions with you before your wedding day.

This page is the reception playbook. For packages, galleries, and everything else wedding, start at our wedding photo booth page. Reception favorites with prints start at $795 for 3 hours. Idle Hours During Dinner

When Should the Booth Open at Your Reception?

There are two golden windows. Cocktail hour catches guests while they are dressed up, fresh, and waiting for you to finish portraits — the booth gives them something to do and the photos are the sharpest of the night. Open dancing catches the other side: jackets off, props on, the friend group that waited all night to pile into one frame.

The stretch in between is where couples waste money. Nobody leaves their seat during dinner and toasts, so instead of paying full booth-hour rates through that hour, we pause the booth with an idle hour at $75/hr (additional live hours are $150/hr). The booth stays set up and staffed, then reopens the moment the dance floor does. It is the single most useful line item on a reception quote, and most couples have never heard of it.

A typical plan: open for cocktail hour, idle through dinner and toasts, live again through open dancing. Your bilingual attendant handles the transitions — you never think about the booth once the night starts.

Where Should the Booth Go in the Room?

The booth should sit where guests already walk: near the bar or the dance floor, visible from the tables. Guests stop for photos on the way to a drink or between songs — no announcement needed, the line builds itself. We need roughly a 10x10 ft footprint and one standard outlet, and we coordinate the exact spot with your planner or venue during setup.

The spot to avoid is by the exit. A booth near the door only gets visited on the way out, when guests are tired and leaving. If your venue has a separate cocktail space, we can open there first and the booth stays put while guests move — placement near where the dancing happens is what matters after dinner.

Which Booths Do Couples Pick for the Reception?

These four are the reception workhorses — all include prints (1 per person per session, unlimited sessions), a custom template, and a bilingual attendant.

What Do You Actually Keep From the Reception?

The reception ends; these do not. Two add-ons turn the booth into the keepsakes couples tell us they still pull out years later.

A copy of every print goes into an album with handwritten guest notes

Audio Guestbook (add-on)

The audio guestbook pairs beautifully with any booth — hear how it works on the audio guestbook rental page.

Why Does a Bilingual Attendant Matter at a Reception?

At a lot of LA weddings, half the room celebrates in English and the other half in Spanish. Every one of our booths comes with a professional bilingual attendant, so your grandparents get the same warm walkthrough as your college friends — and the booth photos actually include the whole family, not just the half that felt comfortable walking up. It is a small detail that shows up in every gallery we deliver.
