The Event
On July 14, 2026, the City of Ontario, CA hosted its annual Bring Your Kids to Work Day — a morning celebrating families, connection, and public service, with hundreds of employees and their kids moving through discovery stations across city departments.
The City’s Human Resources team wanted a keepsake worthy of the day: not a generic photo strip, but something each child would hold onto. Captured Celebrations delivered the Commemorative Collector Card Experience — a personalized, double-sided trading card for every kid, designed with City of Ontario landmarks and branding, printed, trimmed, and sleeved on site.
The Card

The card design: front with each child’s photo and printed name framed by Ontario landmarks; back with the event theme, public-service icons, and a write-in space for their favorite Discovery Station.
Goals
Bring Your Kids to Work Day is about making public service feel real and exciting to the next generation. The City wanted every child to leave feeling like part of the team — and to have a physical memento that captured that feeling.
The brief: a collectible, personalized card. Each child’s own name printed on the front with their photo. A back that celebrated the day’s theme with public-service icons and a space to write in their favorite City Discovery Station. Official enough to feel like a real collector card, personal enough to be theirs alone.
Setup
Personalized Front, On Site
Each child told our attendant their name, and it was typed and printed directly on the front of their card alongside their photo and City of Ontario landmark artwork. No handwritten labels, no generic cards. Every card was one of one.
A Back Designed for the Day
The reverse side carried the event theme, an inspirational message, public-service icons, an "Official 2026 Collector Card" designation, and a write-in space for each child’s favorite City Discovery Station — turning the card into part of the day’s activities, not just a photo souvenir.
Printed, Trimmed, and Sleeved in Real Time
Cards came off the printer at standard 2.5x3.5 trading card size, were trimmed on site, and went straight into protective soft sleeves before landing in small hands. The sleeve is a small detail that changes how kids treat the card — it reads as a collectible from the first second.
City-Approved Artwork Before Event Day
Working with a government client means approvals matter. The full card design — front and back — was submitted to the City for review and sign-off before the event, so event morning was purely about throughput and smiles.
Built for a 4-Hour Morning Rush
With hundreds of participants and a hard 8 AM to 12 PM window, flow was everything. A professional attendant kept the line moving, coordinated names for printing, and made sure the experience felt personal at volume — 140 sessions in four hours.
Results
140 booth sessions in a single four-hour morning — each one a personalized collector card printed, sleeved, and handed to a kid on the spot. The digital gallery kept working after the event ended: 214 shares, 313 gallery views, and a combined social reach of 15,527 with 52,378 impressions in the week that followed.
Those numbers came with zero incentive program. Parents and employees shared because the cards were worth showing off. For a city, that means the event’s message — families, connection, public service — traveled far beyond the people in the building that morning.
Why Collector Cards Work for Family & Community Events
Kids do not save photo strips. They save cards. A trading card with your own name printed on it sits in a different category than any other event souvenir — it goes in a binder, on a shelf, into a backpack pocket to show friends. When the design also carries the city’s landmarks and an official designation, it becomes a small piece of civic pride a family keeps.
For municipal and community events, that is the difference between an activity and a memory. The card keeps telling the story of the day long after the event ends — and every share online carried the City’s event with it.
“Watching a kid get handed a sleeved trading card with their own name printed on it — that reaction is why we built this experience. It is not a photo booth print. It is proof they were part of something.”— Liz Colon, Captured Celebrations

What We Learned
Government clients move on approvals and paperwork — artwork sign-off, insurance, invoicing — and the vendors who handle that smoothly are the ones who get invited back. Getting the card design approved before event day meant the morning itself was pure execution: 140 sessions, zero friction, and a gallery that kept generating shares for a week.
