Goals
WWE and 2K Games needed more than a standard launch party for WWE 2K26. The brief was clear: generate organic social buzz that extended beyond the guest list, create branded content that attendees would actually want to share, and capture attendee data for post-event marketing. The venue was Smogshoppe in Culver City — an industrial-chic space that gave the creative team room to build an immersive branded environment.
The activation had to feel like the game itself. High energy, larger than life, and impossible to scroll past. Every touchpoint needed to reinforce the WWE 2K26 brand while giving guests a reason to post, tag, and share.
Setup
Custom WWE 2K26 Branded Overlays
Every photo featured a custom overlay designed in collaboration with the WWE 2K26 creative team. The overlay incorporated game branding, release date details, and social media handles — turning every print and digital share into a branded marketing asset.
AI Character Transformations
The AI Photo Booth was configured with custom styles that transformed guests into WWE wrestlers. Attendees stepped in front of the camera as themselves and walked away with a photo of their WWE alter ego — complete with championship belts, entrance gear, and arena lighting effects. This was the hero experience that drove the line all night.
Custom Trading Cards with Game Stats
Each guest received a physical trading card featuring their AI-generated wrestler persona alongside custom game stats — strength, speed, finishing move, entrance music. The cards were designed to mirror the in-game trading card system from WWE 2K26, creating a physical collectible that connected directly to the product being launched.
Results
200+ guests attended the launch party, and 95% of them participated in the photo booth activation. That participation rate is nearly unheard of — it means the experience was not optional, it was the main event. Guests came for the game reveal and stayed for the AI transformations and trading cards.
450+ branded photos were captured throughout the evening, with each one carrying the WWE 2K26 branding directly into attendees’ camera rolls and social feeds. 180 physical trading cards were printed on-site, and many guests returned for multiple cards to collect different wrestler personas.
The activation was trending on social media within two hours of doors opening. Guests were posting their AI wrestler transformations alongside their trading cards, tagging both WWE and 2K Games in their stories. The organic reach extended well beyond the 200 people in the room — the branded content traveled through their networks and onto gaming forums, Reddit threads, and fan accounts.
For WWE and 2K Games, the photo booth activation delivered exactly what a product launch needs: authentic, shareable content created by real people who were genuinely excited about the experience. No paid influencer post can replicate the enthusiasm of a guest who just saw themselves transformed into a WWE superstar.
“The AI transformations and trading cards were the highlight of the night. Guests were lined up the entire event and the social media response was exactly what we needed for launch week.”— WWE 2K26 Launch Event Team
Why Product Launches Need Experiential Activations
A product launch lives or dies by the content it generates in the first 48 hours. Traditional launch events give guests a drink, a speech, and a gift bag. Experiential activations like the WWE 2K26 booth give guests a reason to pull out their phone and post — and that organic content is worth more than any press release.
The combination of AI Photo Booth and Trading Cards created a dual-format content engine. The AI photos were instantly shareable on Instagram and TikTok. The trading cards became physical collectibles that guests took home, photographed again later, and shared in a second wave of organic content days after the event.
For brands planning a Los Angeles product launch, the lesson is simple: give your guests an experience worth sharing, and they will do the marketing for you.
